Writing can be a lifeline, especially when your existence has been denied, especially when you have been left on the margins, especially when your life and process of growth have been subjected to attempts at strangulation.

I did not serve my country for this BS!

When I took the oath of office on Jan. 20, 1993, President William Jefferson Clinton was on the television in the background taking his oath of office for president of the United States. I proudly served my country and endured so much trauma that I left the military with PTSD that ruled my life for years.

As I watch these racist white supremacist terrorists take over the US Capital on the day President-elect Joseph Biden was to be certified by the Congress, I am sickened to see so many of these terrorists say they are veterans.

Not so!!! They are domestic terrorists and enemies of the United States as well as our democracy. I refuse to let them attempt to stand on the principles of freedom with their hatred for people who look like me. I did not serve my country for this bullshit!

I urge all veterans to stand up and use your voice to denounce these terrorists!
