Stop making excuses and take full responsibility
Pardon the spelling and grammar errors…..I have a brain injury. this blog going forward is in its raw form.
I was talking to a young lady the other day about my minor stroke and some of the behcaiors I had been engaged in that I felt led to this happening. She listened intently and when I was done talking she began making excuses for the other peoples behaviors. I had to stop her in her tracks.
I had to let her know that I have always had the option to say NO to any and every opportunity that came my way but I never di, not once. If you ask me why I think it was because I had so many people ‘depending’ on me for what I added to them. Whether is was was writing speaking or giving of my services for free at the time I felt like if I didn’t do it, they would go to someone else. Afterall they asked me so they must need me RIGHT???
That’s utter BS and I call it on my ownself — I know its not a word but it fits perfectly in this sentence. It was in reverse, I had a need to be NEEDED. Some place in the recesses of my brain was onging for people to need me. So I caved everytime someone came my way asking me to do something, anything with my gift of writing or management. Now don’t get me wrong, these are not bad people and I loved workign on every single project but I stacked my project plate way too high and the overwhelm I felt was suffocating but I dare not say anything to anyone because I was getting paid and they needed me…the almighty Tanya to be a part of these amazing projects.
Why am I sharing this now??? Because I want you to be free. I don;t want you to have a stroke, a heart attack, an aneurysm trying to be all things to other folks. Because at the end of the day when you are sitting up in the hospital or dead, they are going on their merry way cashing their checks they made off your work. So please STOP with the excuses!!! Take resposibilty for your lack of saying NO and change your life. GEt free!
