Full Circle Moment
I am still in shock over the fact that I returned to Prince George’s Community College last week. It was a special time for me because I was once a student here.
I was that student with my baby in the car seat on the floor trying to get my Associates Degree. I fought long and hard back then in 1992 to get to class, work and still be a home in the midst of doing homework and changing diapers.
But this! Today is a Full Circle moment! I returned as an adjunct professor. I will be teaching young people in the very classrooms I sat in 27 years ago with no direction and very little hope for my future. All I knew was that I needed to be in class and get my degree. Never once did I foresee today. I am grateful that I can used my story of perseverance to encourage these young ones that you may make choices that produces setbacks but you can recover if you want to, desire to, fight to.
